Gator Indoor Practice Facility
University of Florida
Florida may be known as the “Sunshine State,” but in Gainesville, rain could ruin practice within minutes. The new 87,500 sf indoor practice facility for the University of Florida’s football team is their answer, housing a full, 120-yard artificial turf practice field for inclement weather or everyday use. It also includes an on-site satellite training room, video workroom, equipment storage, and restrooms. Filming platforms rise along the south, north, and west interior walls of the building, while a state-of-the-art sound system for simulating voice, music, and crowd noise gets the players energized. Environmental graphics are incorporated into the space highlighting Gator Football Ring of Honor inductees, as well as Florida Gators branding.
The Gators Indoor Football Practice Facility was one of the first LEED indoor practice facilities in the country. Additionally, it was the product of an exceptional design and construction schedule, with only 8.5 months from the start of design to substantial completion while still coming in under budget.
