The Equal Justice Initiative partnered with Davis Architects to renovate its Legacy Pavilion in Montgomery for an exhibition space including a gallery space, digital displays, large audio-visual components, and back-of-house support space.

The building and circulation are organized around a large lobby, which was renovated as part of the project. The exterior incorporated copper panels and signage to complement the messaging of the exhibits housed within. A three-hour fire wall was required to separate the existing Pavilion from the new 25,000 SF expansion, and it was seamlessly integrated into the architecture so that it was invisible to visitors.
