WorkPlay

Hunter Brothers

More than just a music venue.

WorkPlay is home to a live performance theatre, a huge sound stage, a creative office village, and a dynamic bar. Designed by the Davis team for the talented Hunter Brothers to inspire creative collaboration on music and film projects in Birmingham, WorkPlay has become a canvas for all things commercial and entertainment related, as well as the site of very special events. The original building, an old warehouse and storage facility, was transformed into an intimate performance venue inspired by the original Globe Theatre in London, with mezzanines or balconies on three sides.  These were constructed out of iron grates like those in the original warehouse, reflecting Birmingham’s industrial iron and steel heritage. Combining the most dynamic audio equipment, concert hall acoustics, state-of-the-art lighting, and expandable, multi-tiered cabaret seating, WorkPlay Theatre is a performance space unrivaled in the Southeast. More than just a music venue, WorkPlay was also designed to showcase the latest independent films, magic acts, live theatre, poetry slams, and comedy improv. With 5,250 sf of usable space, the WorkPlay Soundstage is the largest and best equipped in the region – for feature film interiors, commercial spots, or a television series.
